Preserving the Land, Protecting the Future
Barg 7 Mile Creek Ranch
A legacy of sustainability and quality
Barg 7 Mile Creek Ranch is a proud veteran-owned and operated ranch nestled in the heart of rural Pillager. Our multigenerational family farm stretches across acres of rich, fertile land and is home to 150 head of Angus Simmental beef cattle.
We follow a rotational grazing program and provide fresh water sources for our livestock. As part of our commitment to sustainability, we proudly participate in the Minnesota Agricultural Water Quality Certification Program (MAWQCP), a voluntary initiative that empowers farmers and landowners to implement conservation practices that protect our water.
With a deep-rooted commitment to sustainable farming practices and a passion for quality livestock, we strive to continue the legacy of hard work, dedication, and stewardship passed down through the generations. Our focus remains on providing the best care for our animals and the land we cherish.
A Legacy of Hard Work and Stewardship
Barg 7 Mile Creek Ranch was built on commitment and grit. Bill Barg’s grandparents left Germany during the Depression, homesteading in Iowa before his father, William, moved the family to Minnesota in search of better opportunities.
Bill’s father faced significant financial struggles, including losing property after years of hard work to pay off loans, leading the family to settle in Pillager. After high school, Bill purchased 80 acres from his father, continuing the farm and teaching his two sons the importance of hard work, ultimately growing the ranch into what it is today. Bill’s son Clayton and his wife Sandra carry on the family legacy, preserving the values of dedication and resilience passed down through generations.
Outstanding Conservationist Award
The Barg family was honored with the prestigious Outstanding Conservationist Award by the Cass Soil and Water Conservation District for their exceptional efforts in sustainable farming practices.
Over the years, the Barg family has worked closely with the Cass Soil and Water Conservation District and the National Resources Conservation Service on projects aimed at improving soil health, preventing erosion, and enhancing conservation efforts. Their dedication to protecting the land ensures its preservation for future generations while contributing to the health of local streams and rivers.
